Starspangledbanner has had a hell of a 2014 after a fairly slow start to the season which makes him such a hot young sire to follow in the future.

Starspangledbanner was a champion racehorse all around the world but mainly in Australia, winning the Caulfield Guineas, beating a future Ballydoyle conquerer in So You Think before winning the Oakleigh Plate (both in 2008) before proving he was just as good in the UK, winning the big Group 1 sprint double of the Golden Jubilee (now Diamond Jubilee) at Royal Ascot and the July Cup as a 3yo before putting in an excellent placed effort in the Nunthorpe at 4. He was then retired to stand at Coolmore Stud in 2011 for €15,000 after the Nunthorpe but due to fertility issues he was brought out at retirement, sadly not the same horse but running twice at Dundalk and once in the Breeders Cup Sprint at Santa Anita.

His first 3 2yo runners as a stallion were only winning maidens at Beverley & Carlisle but everything has just gone to a whole new level since. Home Of The Brave was the first juvenile to get Starspangledbanner some black type finishing 3rd in the Sirenia Stakes G3 at Kempton, building on 4L debut win. Moonraker has also been one to follow for this hot young sire, winning a nice maiden on debut at Ascot in nice fashion before finishing a nice 3rd in Listed company at York and is bound to make into a very nice 3yo. Its definitely fair to say the finds of the season have been Anthem Alexander and The Wow Signal, the former beating subsequent Betfred Super Sprint and Group 2 Lowther winner Tiggy Wiggy in the Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot with the form since been turned over by Tiggy Wiggy when Anthem Alexander was 3rd in the Lowther, with the winner now being aimed at all the top Group 1 races which will sure provide another huge boost to Anthem Alexander and of course Starspangledbanner. The Wow Signal is definitely regarded as a better horse bolting up in a nice maiden at Ayr before hacking up in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes and the Group 1 Prix Morny.

Starspangledbanner on the back of his 2yo campaign has a huge future ahead of him, especially with this season's 2yo's growing into 3yo's and you will certainly be paying at least double the €15,000 in 2015 from 2011 to send your mares to him which is still fairly reasonable.

Thank you to everyone who has read my hot young sires piece on Starspangledbanner. I really hope you enjoyed the read as much as you did with Mastercraftsman and thanks to everyone who has supplied us with the photos.
